As the New Year starts, I thought it was time to reflect on the last twelve months and some of the extraordinary opportunities I’ve had the chance to be part of.
2012 has seen me getting to grips with REDcam, taking my photography to a whole new level, crewing on my first feature film, and working with the director of Dredd. I camera opped on a lovely lost in translation style music video for Manchester band, Nine Black Alps, filmed eagles and seals, and somehow ended up discussing location fees for a million pound pent house. That and BBC Winterwatch started favourite-ing my flickr photos.
I got to meet some amazing people along the way, learn a whole lot of wonderfully geeky tech-ery and start to realise my goal of becoming a colourist over the next five years.
As for 2013, so far it’s seen my flickr hit 15,000 views, placements secured at Framestore (Skyfall titles) and Space Digital (Dr Who vfx), and offer to smuggle me into Vegas. Oh and my first two IMDB credits on the horizon.
Looks like it’s going to be an interesting one.
