A week ago I graduated, so now seems as good a time as ever to get the blog rolling. In September I head to MediaCityUK to study an MA in Post-Production for Film and Television where I will spend a year immersing myself in the latest technology and workflows at the heart of the industry. However, until then, there’s plenty to keep busy with.
I first got involved with filmmaking when I was eighteen as part of a local film initiative in rural Wales. Fascinated by the medium, I took a year out following secondary school to work at a small web-based broadcaster at the forefront of the local television revolution, before returning to teach at the same film initiative that had first allowed me to explore my interest.
Fast forward three years, and I’ve been lucky enough to work on opposite sides of the world and continue to hone my post skills across film and broadcast platforms. As of the past month, I have been compiling footage shot by current students into a series of informational videos for the University of York’s Psychology Department, with the aiming of promoting the course to prospective students and answering any questions they might have. I’ve also just finished designing five pieces of promotional artwork for a charity display at the Great Yorkshire Show. However, most exciting of all, from July 30th, I have been commissioned to bring you exclusive behind-the-scenes coverage from feature film Whoops!, a black comedy from York based indie company MilesTone Films, filming in and around York this summer. The films will be available via One&OtherTV and via this blog, so keep and eye out and let me know what you think.
